Race 5 No. 2 DISPUTED RIVER- ($2.70)
DISPUTED RIVER can chalk up the first win of his career when he steps out in Race 5 of the day. The Price/Kent Jnr galloper went close at his last campaign with two very narrow runner-up performances and stepped out at Geelong when fresh on January 4, finishing 4th behind the highly promising Mr I’m A Believer. He led them up that day and was very keen before just fading late. Blinkers come off and worth noting that at his second run last time the son of American Pharaoh improved seven lengths on benchmark figures when going from a 4th at Pakenham to runner-up at Benalla. 2000m suits and if he can just relax a bit better he should be hard to get past at the business end.

Race 1 No. 2 CHIEF WHITE SOCK – ($6.50)
We open up with a Maiden over the 1100m at Kilmore and CHIEF WHITE SOCK is worth a bit of thought. The Team Hawkes-trained galloper hasn’t done much in his first two starts but had excuses on debut back in August before stepping out at Canterbury in NSW on January 6, finishing 3rd in a four-horse field behind Lavish Empire. He was well beaten but did bomb the start before working into it on the Heavy track. Scope for improvement at his second start and this looks to have less depth.
