Race 5:  No.3  TWO YA GOT  ($2.45 with Bet Right)

Another from the Cavanough stable is TWO YA GOT who is in career-best form this preparation and should take beating today. Last start, the No Nay Never gelding brought up his third win this time in when he took out a BM75 over 1100m at Ipswich. He came from back in the field that day to arrive in time to grab the major prize. He also posted the fastest final 800m to 200m sectionals for the race. Braith Nock is two from two with the four-year-old and sticks with him for this assignment. Ideally drawn in gate two here, he maps to settle just behind the speed (on the fence) and with a clear crack at them in the run home, he will prove hard to hold out today.

Race 3:  No.3  FIREFLIES  ($3.60 with Picklebet)

The Brett Cavanough-trained FIREFLIES returns to country racing today and looks set to atone for her last start run. The Not A Single Doubt filly tasted Metropolitan racing last start when she took on a BM72 (for three-year-olds) over 1800m at Eagle Farm. She stepped-up in distance that day (to 1800m) and overraced early before being galloped on and finishing mid-field. She still managed to run her last 600m, 4 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Nothing went right for her that day. The stable have removed the visors and replaced them with the winkers and have also fitted a tongue tie for today’s contest. Nicely drawn in gate five, she maps to settle three or four pairs back with cover as Jake Bayliss sticks with her here. Dropping sharply in grade, she should play a major role at the finish.

Race 6:  No.5  BAD BOY DARBY  ($13 with Ladbrokes) 

Grafton galloper, BAD BOY DARBY is second-up day in search of his third-straight win over the 1200m distance. Last start, the Wandjina gelding came off a lengthy 22-week break and clearly in need of the run, finished mid-field in a BM58 Hcp over 1010m at Coffs Harbour. Jag Guthman-Chester takes the reins today where the four-year-old draws to do no early work from gate four. Fitter for that first-up run, he will appreciate the step-up in distance today as he is unbeaten over 1200m to date. He is also a winner when second-up and could surprise today at (currently) double-figure odds.
