BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.2 SEISME ($3 with Neds)
Ricky Vale and Ryan Wiggins team-up here with SEISME who resumes off a six-month break and after two successful trials, looks the one to beat in this contest. Last preparation, the Medaglia D’oro gelding finished on the podium in all three races, winning his last start in a 1300m Maiden on the Callaghan Park track at Rockhampton. Wiggins was aboard for all three runs and boasting a 31% strike rate with the Vale stable, has the reins again today. At his most recent trial he put almost five lengths on them over the 900m trip. From gate five, he maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with a trouble-free run, he looks mighty hard to hold out today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.8 TRICKY BEANS ($3.60 with Ladbrokes)
Rockhampton galloper, TRICKY BEANS, has a good track record here and second-up today ticks enough boxes to suggest he is a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Spill The Beans gelding resumed off an 18-week break and wasn’t disgraced when taking home third prize in Open company at Yeppoon. Unbeaten in two second-up appearances, he also boasts two wins from three starts here and today, gets the gun-run from gate one. Dale Evans is the pilot for the first time and if he does settle just behind the speed today, he should prove hard to hold out here.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2: No.2 OUR BENEFIT ($5.75 with Picklebet)
The Tom Button-trained OUR BENEFIT has impressed with his three starts to date and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Reward For Effort colt wasn’t disgraced when finishing third in a 1000m Maiden at Townsville. Button makes a gear change today, taking off the winkers and putting on the full blinkers for this contest. Ryan Wiggins returns for his second ride on the colt who draws the one gate and maps to settle in the first half-dozen. With a trouble-free run here, the three-year-old can break through today.
