Mackay Tips 22/06/2023

Our form expert provides Mackay tips for today’s horse racing at Mackay Racecourse and gives his best bets.

BEST BET 🏆

Race 8:  No.4  ENUFF HE SAID  ($1.60 with Ladbrokes)

Former jockey and now accomplished trainer Adrian Coome saddles-up ENUFF HE SAID here who looks the best of the day. Last start, the Rich Enuff gelding cam off an unlucky second in a Class 3 contest at Rockhampton when he went on better on the same track and beat home a small BM65 field over the mile. He seems to have matured and is firing well this time in and today has Ryan Wiggins in the saddle for this assignment. Ideally drawn in gate four today, he maps to settle near the speed and already a win here over the trip, he will take beating.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.9  BRIGHT TIARA  ($2.70 with Bet Right)

The Jared Wehlow-trained BRIGHT TIARA has had one start for her new stable and looks set for back-to-back wins here today. Last start, the former Kelly Schweida-trained filly made her debut for the Wehlow stable and she did it in fine style, breaking through for her maiden win with her first look at the Mackay track. From gate seven (of ten) and carrying 1kg over her allocated weight, she clobbered her rivals in the 1100m contest, crossing the line more than two lengths ahead of them. Coming off a four-week freshen-up, Nathan Day has the reins for this assignment and she looks well placed here to do it all again.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.5  UNO ARTIE  ($2.40 with Picklebet)

Rockhampton trainer Jamie McConachy saddles-up UNO ARTIE here who is unbeaten this preparation and looks well placed here to bring up the hat-trick today. Last start, the Flying Artie gelding made it two-straight when he clobbered them in a BM0-55 Hcp, here over 1200m. Carrying 59kgs and Ash Butler in the saddle, he box-seated to the turn then made the race his own, going on to win by 2.5 lengths on the line. Up in grade today, he carries less weight and has Justin Stanley taking the reins here (who boasts a 20% success rate with the stable). Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to be (possibly) box-seating again and should prove hard to hold out from there.
