Race 6:  No.9  TRACK TALE  ($3.05 with BoomBet)

The Ricky Vale-trained TRACK TALE resumes off a five-month break and even on fresh legs, looks the one to beat here. Last start, the Whittington filly ended her first campaign and made it four-straight top-two finishes when she beat all but one home in a Two-Year-Old Plate over 1200m at Rockhampton. She was then spelled and has trialled twice since, finishing top-two in both of those runs with McKenzie Apel on her back. Vale has given Apel the nod here for her first ride on the filly under race conditions and she gets the gun-run from gate one today. She is seeing the track for the first time but already a winner when first-up, she looks the testing material today.

Race 3:  No.1  MILO MAN  ($4.25 with BoomBet)

The Nick Walsh-trained MILO MAN is third-up today and ticks enough boxes here to be considered a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Moshe gelding was second-up and trying to lead all the way, was found out in the closing stages, finishing third in Open company over 1100m at Rockhampton. Fitter for two runs back, he draws well in gate four today and should be leading the way on settling. Up in weight, but down in class, he is already a winner when third-up and a winner at the track and with Ash Butler returning for the ride, he looks a real contender for the main prize today.
