Race 5:  No.3  PANUARA BOY  ($4 with Palmerbet)

Glen Innes galloper PANUARA BOY has won of three starts this preparation and ticks most boxes here that suggest he will take beating today. Last start, the Marechal gelding made it two from two at this track when he clobbered a BM58 field over the 950m sprint. With Braith Nock aboard, he box-seated to the turn, then took control from there and raced away to win by more than two lengths, with plenty in reserve. This is a little harder but with three wins already under his belt and Nock sticking with him today, he should still prove hard to run down in this contest.

Race 7:  No.12  ROUSSOS  ($5 with Ladbrokes)

The Craig Martin-trained ROUSSOS has found the podium in three of his four starts this time in and ticks all the boxes here that says he will be the one to beat in this year’s Cup. Last start, the Dream Ballad gelding finished strongly to grab third prize (beaten half a length) in the Tamworth Rush over 1200m at Tamworth. He has enjoyed a good lead-up for today’s big one and welcomes back Ash Morgan who has steered him to victory twice previously. Already a winner at the track and a two-time winner over the trip, he should be at his peak today and a trouble-free run sees him right in the mix here.

Race 3:  No.3  DYCAST MISSILE  ($5.60 with BoomBet)

Local galloper, DYCAST MISSILE, is having just his third race-start today and with a change of race tactics, can bounce back here. The Smart Missile gelding was most impressive on debut when he clobbered his rivals in a 1300m Maiden Plate, here two starts back. He led on settling and gave nothing else a chance, winning by more than three lengths on the line. Then last start, he was ridden upside down and after settling at the tail of the field, found himself too far back and finished mid-field in a Class 1 Hcp over 1400m at Gunnedah. Jacob Golden was aboard for both events and has the job again today. He steps-up to the mile today and where he settles may decide his fate here. Taken on trust, he looks up to this assignment and could play a major role in the outcome.
