BEST BET 🏆   

Race 6 No. 1 SHAIME- ($1.85) 

SHAIME can give this a shake at his first run back from a spell. The locally trained galloper closed off her debut preparation with a solid win at Mornington back in January in what proved to be a solid form race, defeating Eternal Flame, while there was a four length gap back to Khalida. She was competitive in her two runs prior to that and was luckless when making her debut at Moe. Long gap between runs but she did enough in her debut preparation to suggest she can handle these. Beau Mertens rides and the pair draw barrier 6.

Race 8 No. 2  DEVIL’S DELIGHT- ($3.10) 

DEVIL’S DELIGHT can kick off his preparation with a win. The Phillip Stokes-trained galloper has had five starts for a win at Pakenham and a runner-up performance at the track and trip in a strong two-year-old race. He was competitive behind the likes of Scheelite in other races. The son of Hellbent comes in with a winning trial and draws perfectly in barrier 4 with Zac Spain to ride.

Race 9 No. 2 SPIRIT BEAST- ($3) 

SPIRIT BEAST can end the day a winner. The Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained galloper resumed off a long spell at Sandown on December 6 and worked home well from the back of the field to place 5th behind Call Him Iggy over the 1400m. He came out wide and was solid to the line. Second up last time he improved from an 8th at Sandown to a runner-up at that venue behind Greenhill Prince. The son of Scissor Kick draws wide and will get back but the tempo looks solid enough for him to launch at them late.
