Race 7 No. 2 OUTPOST ($14)

OUTPOST finds himself amongst the #SABlackbookers for his third prep in a row following a gutsy on-speed performance first-up. Put in forward showing during his barrier trial at Murray Bridge where he ran good time relative to the day. Outpost stepped out over 1200 metres for his first look at a heavy track in a strong BM70 race at Gawler. Alana Livesey allowed Outpost to stride along at a fast tempo as he likes to do. He did seem to have enough by the 150m as the winner Jack’s On Ice ran past to claim his third win in a row. Outpost has been given another break since and should appreciate racing on a firmer deck at Morphettville Racecourse while back to a favourable distance.

Race 1 No. 1 AIR ASSAULT ($8.10)

Class matters and we have seen the Andrew Gluyas trained AIR ASSAULT run against some pretty handy types throughout his two-year-old prep. Stable senior Jason Holder rode Air Assault in all five of those starts with the stable signaling their intent for the horse to learn to settle in his races. The team found success when Air Assault broke through on this track for a Group three win over 1400 metres. He was subsequently tipped out following the run and has gone under the knife since. Looked really fresh during a recent jumpout win on the synthetic, and Gluyas has snapped up the services of classy apprentice Kelsey Hannan.

Race 9 No. 2 JENKINS ($15)

Pakenham trainer Phillip Stokes sent JENKINS over to the Morphettville stables last prep where the horse ran a massive race first-up. That was over 1250 metres on the smaller Parks track with apprentice Gary Lo giving Jenkins the ride of the day. The race was run at a controlled tempo with the first three horses straightening also figuring in the four-way photo. The odd one out was Jenkins with Lo allowing his horse to find his feet at the tail of the field. Lo nicked inside runs before coming out by the furlong to mount his challenge. Jenkins just missed in that photo, and we are confident he’ll be suited by the bigger track on Saturday.
