Race 1 No. 8 KING’S CROSSING – ($2.70)

Barwon Heads trainer Danny O’Brien brings a big lump of a 3yo to Morphettville Racecourse on Saturday in KING’S CROSSING. Patrick Maloney gave him the run of the race when he broke his maiden over 1726m at Geelong. King’s Crossing attacked his opposition from the top of the straight before lumbering away for a decisive win. He was inclined to race fiercely second-up as Damien Lane fired him up from his outside draw. The pair crossed to a handy position after working out of the straight for the first time over 2200 metres. King’s Crossing still had the fortitude to take over nearing the furlong before being challenged by Instigator. Instigator claimed King’s Crossing late after having the cosy run throughout, with these two clearing away from the others.

Race 2 No. 2 MY KHALIFA – ($4.25)

Gordon Richards & Damien Moyle finally have MY KHALIFA out to the mile for the first time. All indications are that the perennial #SABlackbookers horse will have no issues covering the extended journey. He does seem to hold a preference towards the smaller Parks track though, perhaps due to his sharp turn of speed. Todd Pannell can keep him smothered up in a race where there doesn’t look to be a lot of speed. The ideal draw means My Khalifa shouldn’t have to go making any long runs to build into the race. Pannell will be looking to work away from behind the leaders coming into the straight before holding him together. He can produce My Khalifa at the right time and be right in amongst the finish again.

Race 7 No. 10 SERADESS – ($34)

We’re predicting the Group One Robert Sangster Stakes to be run at a controlled tempo with most of the speed drawn in. Morphettville has raced away from the fence and against those on speed in recent times. I’mlovin’ya won the Redelva from that area here a fortnight ago with the rail now out another three metres. 

SERADESS is the horse we’re going to take a look at for our Roughie/Value point of view. Love the long-term prep former Morphettville trainers Mark & Levi Kavanagh have given the locally bred mare. Seradess found the frontrunning before kicking strongly to win the Tobin Bronze for 3yo’s over this track and trip last year. She followed-up a fortnight later in the Proud Miss for a demolition job against the older mares in sharp time. 

Just missed out first-up over 1100m at Flemington and should’ve finished closer in the Irwin which rated higher than the Redelva on the same day. Won’t want it too wet and Todd Pannell can land in a spot handy to probable leaders Passive Aggressive and Marabi. Todd will be looking to head into the best part of the track where Seradess can produce a true local victory.
