BEST BET 🏆

Race 3 No. 6 DUBENENKO – ($2.60)

Should expect that DUBENENKO has the most upside of the 2yo’s tackling the Listed race at Morphettville Parks Racecourse on Saturday. Teagan Voorham had been very kind on her as Dubenenko came back with two trial wins in preparation for return. She allowed the filly to settle last of the small field as trainer Chris Bieg sent her around fist-up at Murray Bridge. Dubenenko worked through her gears into the straight to go past them and win off that slow early tempo. She’s not an overly big filly who does not strike as a natural Gifford Hill horse. Will only strip fitter, can settle closer here and we expect Dubenenko to be suited on the smaller circuit.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 3 STARSONGARI – ($10.20)

We’ve had to be patient in waiting for racing to return to the smaller tracks on which Starsongari excels at. She’s been ticking over okay on the bigger tracks and can be in the finish with even luck for Alana Livesey. Starsongari scored a strong win in fillies and mares’ class here when Sheriden Tomlinson held his position on the fence with the mare. They had followed the speed with Starsongari showing balance with a supreme turn of foot as they shouldered into the clear from behind the leader. She gets out to an open 68 now following another good effort on the outer Morphettville track. Livesey can track the speed again on Saturday with Starsongari to showcase her horse’s superiority on these smaller tracks.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 6 ANNIHILATE – ($11)

Late season three-year-old ANNIHILATE did a bit wrong at Gifford Hill over the weekend when lumping top weight against the older horses. He was slowly away, which he has done twice in two starts now, before wanting to get the head up while resenting the slow tempo. Annihilate also wanted to hang badly into the straight, proving difficult to ride. Annihilate still ran into the placings behind for Sheriden Tomlinson while recording a good overall time to class. Annihilate is a big strong type who was well handled when scoring under Teagan Voorham at his previous start. Teagan comes back on, and while she has a tricky gate to contend with, the speed should be a little more generous on Saturday.
