Morphettville Tips 18/11/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7 No. 7 SOUTHERN SHOOTER – ($5)

Progressive 3yo SOUTHERN SHOOTER caught the eye with his second-up run at Port Lincoln. He wasn’t the quickest into stride and so was forced to race out the back as the field ran along over 1210m. Callan Murray had nowhere to go on his horse who was racing strongly on the bridle throughout. By the time he managed to angle clear nearing the 200m, the race was shot to bits. Southern Shooter let down with some quality about him to finish on the heels of the place getters. Travis Doudle then sent his horse out over 1400m at Balaklava where he again travelled strongly under Dom Tourneur. He went to them not long after straightening before coming away for a strong win to record one of the faster times of the day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 8 No. 5 TOSEN WATER – ($5.25)

TOSEN WATER comes out of a slowly run race in which we’re not keen to follow out of. We can isolate this mare from the rest of the field as a lightly raced galloper who tracked wide without cover the entire. Jacob Opperman did get her out to the better part of the track for Tosen Water to come again late for second. This follows an impressive second-up win at Gawler with the stable keeping her to 1200m third-up. Tosen Water has since held off the fast-finishing Master At Arms to score a comfortable win while staying to the 1200m here a fortnight ago. Perhaps some query with coming back to 1100m; however, Tosen Water should get a good run handy to the speed and will be strong through the line.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 9 No. 2 REAL VALENTIA – ($9.50)

Journeyman trainer Kym Healy set REAL VALENTIA to give a good sight on the speed at Morphettville Racecourse while resuming. They ran fast times all day on the quick surface and Real Valentia was allowed to run under Hannah Edgley. The pair were claimed late by All Beans who had been given the perfect ride from just off the pace by Maggie Collett. Healy will have plenty of options with Real Valentia who also went close when claimed by Shirshov on the Parks track earlier this year. Those have been his only two runs in town and he can certainly win a race or two at this level.
