BEST BET 🏆
Race 9 No. 3 NOSTRYIA ($3.30)
We’ve been waiting to see NOSTRYIA show any sign of recapturing his earlier promise and we got that prior to last start. Nostryia won his jumpout prior to resuming which is nothing unusual for him. Nice to see him put it together on race day under apprentice Alana Livesey who found a handy spot just forward of midfield. She had to switch off heels into the straight as the winner Londrodex raced to the lead with momentum. Nostryia stayed on task to keep coming late for second place. That was enough to have us backing him over this track and trip last start when Nostryia had the misfortune of running into a smart horse. The winner Etienne led to win while running the fastest of three 1000 metre races on the day. Nostryia followed him home while leaving a gap back to the others.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 3 FOXY FEMME ($3.80)
Best of luck to those who predicted the track pattern of horses winning from the back last meeting here at Morphettville Parks Racecourse. Nostradamus himself would be wondering how they did it. So what do we do now? Well the rail was out 6m into the straight and pushes out a further 3m for Saturday. They kept coming out wider as the day went on so it’s probably fair to believe the inside section they ran on then will be no better this week. Should the pattern remain then FOXY FEMME comes right into his own. Has raced well previously here including both races this time in. Race strength behind Lonrodex and Nostryia first-up, plus also Prophets Choice last start bode well. Looked the winner last time and suited by the good speed on paper.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8 No. 4 THE GOV ($15)
Alana Livesey claims a couple off for THE GOV who races first-up off the back of a successful prep last time in. The horse showed good speed to put himself into his races as he won two and ran second twice in four of his last five runs. Showed that he can carry weight when knocked off late under 61 kg over this track and trip as noted wet tracker Zarace claimed him under Livesey. Better suited back on top of the ground and was a comfortable winner of a recent jumpout under heavyweight trainer Shayne Cahill.
