Morphettville Tips 15/12/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 7 No. 3 SHOOTING FOR STARS – ($4.40)

Will Clarken & Niki O’Shea have SHOOTING FOR STARS racing second-up at Morphettville Racecourse on Friday. She was a drifter in the betting prior to being slow out of the gates first-up on the Parks track. Ben Price worked her into the race between horses and towards the outer part of the track as the leader My Ruby kicked for home. That horse held on to win from Rockstar Meggsy who we chose to write into the black book. Shooting For Stars also came with Rockstar Meggsy into the straight for a credible third. This race on the twilight meeting comes as a slight drop in class on the bigger track which should play into her hands.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 1 CALL ME VEXATIOUS – ($2.35)

The winners keep coming for Callan Murray who sticks with CALL ME VEXATIOUS for the twilight meeting at Morphettville Racecourse on Friday. Call Me Vexatious was raced prominently throughout at Gawler two starts ago. Murray just had an on-fire Lachy Neindorf sneak back through to his inside on Exopipi. That horse found a margin into the straight before denying a game Call Me Vexatious to the line. The mare raced well again for Murray when beat all but Crown Mint home on the Parks track last start. Looks well-placed here by trainer Nicole Irwin and is sure to attract plenty of support while back in grade.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8 No. 8 SAN LUCIDO – ($10)

Christmas has come early for the Jon O’Connor stable after receiving SAN LUCIDO from North-bound trainer Scott Westover. Dom Tourneur had to get into his riding early as the horse took a few awkward steps on debut. He found a good rhythm on San Lucido before balancing up out in the middle of the straight. The pair got home as the eye-catching runner behind Putanothercoin to have the punters sending them out as favourite next start. Both horse and rider put in an outstanding performance to win from their outside alley. This race is obviously a step in grade as O’Connor tests the waters in town. San Lucido gives the impression of a horse with some quality and wouldn’t surprise in winning the last at Morphettville on Friday.
