Race 6: No.2 CRAFT ($3.65 with BoomBet)

The Nick Olive newcomer CRAFT has made a big impression off his first two race starts and looks set to fire again today. Last start, the Starcraft gelding went one better than his debut at Wagga when he destroyed his rivals in a 1400m Maiden Plate at Cootamundra. He jumped straight to the front and led all the way, putting 2.5 lengths on the 11-strong field that day. Billy Owen is the pilot today and whilst drawn wide (gate 10), the four-year-old’s early gate speed has him settling on speed again. Even fitter for two runs in, he looks set for back-to-back victories today.

Race 2: No.2 PRINCESTON ($2.20 with bet365)

Kembla Grange galloper PRINCESTON is high flying after two starts back and looks the testing material here. Last start, the Exosphere mare came off her first-up Maiden Plate win (here) when she wasn’t disgraced by finishing third in a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m on the Canberra track. She looked home that day but was grabbed by a couple of swoopers, leaving her a length adrift in the minor money position. Today she returns to where it began for her and has Shaun Guymer remaining on board after sticking with her from the outset. There’s plenty of upside about this lightly-raced four-year-old and she will take beating in this contest.

Race 4: No.6 MOONRIDER ($9.50 with Bet Right)

Local galloper MOONRIDER has been on-song this time in and looks a genuine winning chance at odds today. Last start, the Odyssey Moon gelding came off his maiden win (on this track) when he tackled a Class 1/Maiden field at Cootamundra. Carrying 59kgs that day, he fared well to finish third, beaten a length in the 1600m contest. After the claim, he drops back to 56kgs today and has less ground to cover as well. Olivia Chambers was aboard for those last two efforts and remains the pilot for today’s assignment. He maps to settle near the speed from gate five and back on home soil, where he is already a track and distance winner, he can give this a real shake today and is well worth an each-way ticket.
