BEST BET 🏆
Race 6: No.4 DRAGONS BREATH ($11 with Picklebet)
Locally-trained by Natalie Jarvis, DRAGONS BREATH resumes today off a 19-week break and looks boasting a strong fresh record, looks set to bring up career-win number five here. Last start, the Sepoy gelding ended his last preparation with a disappointing effort, finishing near last in a BM66 Hcp over 1100m at Nowra. He was spelled immediately and since returning to work, has finished second in a recent barrier trial. Three podium finishes from five previous first-up appearances suggest he can perform on fresh legs while he also boasts three wins from his six starts on this track. Shaun Guymer has steered him to victory three times from his 11 rides on the five-year-old and has the job again today. Currently at double-figure odds, he looks well worth an each-way ticket in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.5 DIAMOND STAR ($4.85 with BoomBet)
Keith Dryden saddles-up DIAMOND STAR here who is in top-shelf form of late and looks well placed here for another crack at the mile journey today. Last start, the Stratum Star mare came from mid-field to grab third prize in a BM58 Hcp over 1400m at the Sapphire Coast. She is now four starts into this campaign and should be at her today. Brendan Ward rode her on debut and is back for another crack at it. This looks no harder than last start and fitter here, she can figure in the finish today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.7 LOAFING ($10 with Unibet)
The Keith Dryden-trained LOAFING is third-up today and ticks enough boxes to makes things interesting on his chances in taking out this contest. Last start, the Savabeel gelding went into the BM58 Hcp at the Sapphire Coast, boasting a strong second-up record, but left his run a little late, finishing fifth, beaten 1.5 lengths over the line. He has enjoyed a six-week freshen-up since then and welcomes new rider James Innes Jnr to the saddle for today’s assignment. Drawn gate five, he maps to settle mid-field and with a trouble-free run here, he can give this field a real fright today at odds.
