Mount Gambier Tips 11/10/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 6 No. 9 VERDI – ($5.60)

The money came for VERDI who got the cash for backers when scoring first-up over this track and trip. Verdi was also having his first start for hometown trainer Belinda O’Loughlin with the locals proving patient with their money. They had to wait for the last race of the day to launch into one with Teagan Voorham sending Verdi straight to the front off their wide draw. The day had played to those racing up on the speed and Verdi was able to put paid to them inside the furlong. Similar conditions are expected for Mount Gambier Racecourse on Wednesday as Christine Puls takes the ride on Verdi who will only strip fitter for the win.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 5 BOSSY BRITCHES – ($5.60)

There was no early speed from BOSSY BRITCHES first-up as Alana Livesey found herself out the back. Speed was good up front on a leader and on-pace dominated day. Livesey got into her work on the horse as the race continued to build on the turn. Bossy Britches started to run into it between horses by the dog leg only to find her path blocked. Livesey rebalanced her mount inside the furlong to come again, only to find the back of a tiring leader. Bossy Britches tends to improve over further and may still find this a touch short. She is worth following into this prep off that first-up run with Jacob Opperman drawn to get rolling from out wide.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 7 No. 3 DETNAW – ($6.10)

Kayla Crowther afforded DETNAW the run of the race last start when competing here over 1300m. She found a gun run the fence as the speed went on up front. She found Detnaw to be a little one-paced initially when she asked him to improve. The winner Magnetic Prince had just put paid to the leaders after straightening into the furlong before Detnaw finally found his feet. Detnaw got home very strongly along the inside section to just miss the winner. We are expecting this to be a race to follow and Detnaw may appreciate the slightly further distance with Campbell Rawiller taking the ride.
