Mount Gambier Tips 24/04/2024

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 1 CHILL WITH TEEJAY ($4)

Former Mount Gambier local Peter Hardacre calls upon Felicity Atkinson for her 2kg to help get CHILL WITH TEEJAY home on Wednesday. The pair have drawn out though do have the pace to get over near the speed early. Chill With Teejay was racing really well prior to going for a let-up, including finishing a close second to Ravnikar over this track and trip. She was okay in making ground against the pattern on Cup Day when most of the winners came from closer to the speed and back towards the inside. They possibly went a bit quick for her when Chill With Teejay was left wanting after following the hot speed set by Overstrike in town.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 4 EAGLES FOREVER ($5.50)

We’ll be keeping one eye on the sky and the other on the track ratings throughout the day for EAGLES FOREVER. The horse goes around in the second-last at Mount Gambier Racecourse on Wednesday and evidently doesn’t like to get his feet wet. Eagles Forever does technically have a win on the soft next to his name. The track was rated a Good 4 that day before being downgraded to a Soft 5 for his win, before the steward’s upgraded the track again. Strong win in fast time as Jessica Eaton sent Eagles Forever to the front third-up over 1700m at Penola. Those two came away from the others and we can also go on his close-up third placing to Bossy Britches and Clever Man over this track and trip last year.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4 No. 5 MR FERRARI ($13)

We were made to look very silly in mentioning the name MR FERRARI for a maiden race at Naracoorte several starts ago. We jumped on Mr Ferrari off the back of a third-placing where he led for most of the way here in Mount Gambier. The horse was lobbed towards the back of the field at Naracoorte to where he remained. Those tactics remained in his next race start for the same result at Bordertown before Alana Livesey took the reins in Strathalbyn. She sent the horse straight to the front with Mr Ferrari bolting in by four lengths at massive odds over On The Scent who has since come out to win twice. Beaten a long way in his next start at Warracknabeal before racing well under Livesey again last time under Livesey.
