Race 5 No. 3 CRUISE TO RIO ($2.60)

Troy Turner had CRUISE TO RIO travelling comfortably underneath him as the filly returned from a spell at Ascot. Turner seemed to have plenty of horse under him while tracking the fence on turning. The pair ran into a dead-end and were forced to cross the heels of the field as they approached the furlong. Cruise To Victory caught the attention of black book punters everywhere with her fast-finishing effort to run second that day. Those same punters were counting the spoils from her second-up victory after she travelled much closer to the speed. Turner sent Cruise To Victory out after early race leader Ain’tsobad to nail that horse in the shadows of the post.

Race 3 No. 8 SASSY SKYE ($3.60)

We’ll keep to the Cruise To Rio form line with SASSY SKYE being kept to maiden grade for another day. The mare pinged the lids to easily cross from her wide gate under Lucy Fiore when resuming over 1406m. Fiore asked Sassy Skye to come back in behind Ain’tsobad who was quite intent on leading. Sassy Skye seemed to take an age to chase that early leader and really only responded as Cruise To Rio moved outside her. Sassy Skye could not match that outside horse while poking through in the middle to miss Ain’tsobad for second. Trainer Summer Dickson opts for the winkers to help sharpen Sassy Skye as she brings her back to 1300m on Wednesday.

Race 7 No. 7 DIAMOND ROCKS ($6)

Drawing an ordinary gate has ensured an each-way price about DIAMOND ROCKS at Pinjarra on Wednesday. The mare was sluggish out of the machines as trainer Michael Lane sent her to town third-up. Diamond Rocks still had the speed to muster under the urgings of Holly Watson with the pair finding a spot around midfield the fence. Watson soon found her path blocked as she attempted to edge away from the rails on turning. She just had to hold and wait for about a furlong with Diamond Rocks who should have finished much closer to Enchanting Sound. Back to midweek grade suits, and Diamond Rocks can be in the finish with even luck from the gate.
