Race 5:  No.8  IKNOWASTAR  ($2.25 with Palmerbet)

The Bjorn Baker-trained IKNOWASTAR is second-up here and returning from a stint in the city, looks much better placed here and is more than capable of taking the Cup home today. Last start, the Star Witness gelding was fresh off a lengthy five-month break when he finished a creditable fourth in a BM72 Hcp over 1250m at Canterbury. Fitter for that run, he returns to country competition today and has Jett Stanley as the pilot for this contest. Already a track and distance winner, he draws ideally in gate two and should give this a real shake today.

Race 4:  No.6  SUPERABUNDANT  ($3.85 with BoomBet)

The Scone-based galloper SUPERABUNDANT has looked good at his past couple and having just his fourth race start today, looks well placed to break his maiden here. Last start, the Redwood gelding made it two-straight podium finishes when he claimed third prize in a Dubbo Maiden over 1418m. He came from midfield and finished strongly, beaten just half a length on the line. This looks no harder and he strips fitter today after those three runs to date. Koby Jennings takes the reins for the first time and at his peak today, he looks a serious player in this field.

Race 2:  No.5  FANZ   ($7 with Ladbrokes)

The Rod Northam-trained FANZ has been knocking on the door at every start this preparation and today he looks well placed to break the run of outs. Last start, the Sepoy gelding made it three podium finishes from four starts this time in when looking the winner, he grabbed on the line by a couple of swoopers, leaving him with third prize in a BM58 Hcp over 1300m at Scone. He steps-up a little in grade today but drops back to the 1200m where he has had most success and is reunited with Grant Buckley who is in search of his first win with the galloper. He has the outside gate today but that shouldn’t hamper his chances in the small field. Four starts in, he should be at his peak today and a trouble-free run here has him in the mix.
