BEST BET 🏆
Race 8 No. 1 SANTASTICO ($5.50)
Tala Hutchinson brings a three-kilo claim for SANTASTICO after the horse was scratched from a rain affected track in Mount Gambier last week. Santastico produced three wins in a row last prep, including one in town to work his way up the handicap rating. Trainer Matthew Seyers resumed Santastico over the metro meeting at Oakbank where he wasn’t beaten far behind Great Maximus. Found himself a lot further back than usual at Bordertown last start before getting off the fence and finishing strongly over 1100m. That race behind All Beans was a strong race for country class which should see Santastico stripping fitter for the 1200m at home on Wednesday.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7 No. 1 LUNASHA ($5)
Drawing an ordinary gate at Bordertown Racecourse has no doubt played its part in finding us a price for LUNASHA last start. She settled towards the back of midfield before coming away from her rivals over 1300m. The Filly won her maiden two starts prior at Strathalbyn when defeating Togetherforever who appears to hold city winning ability. That horse was sent around as a very short-price favourite to win with some authority at her next start. Lunasha had also gone around in a class two at Strath where she wasn’t beaten far from Bellalique who toyed with her rivals. The stable got their kill for Lunasha in country grade and we’re more than happy to stick with her as Lunasha makes her way through the grades.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 2 No. 10 FOXY FROST ($14)
Local trainer Judy Streets will have FOXY FROST lining-up for the stable’s second start with the horse on Wednesday. Foxy Frost impressed during her first start in South Australia since crossing the border with a fast-finishing fourth in Balaklava. The filly wasn’t the best into stride with Zoe Lloyd electing to hunt the fence into the straight. Foxy Frost took some time to find her rhythm up the tricky Balaklava straight before pinning the ears back and having a crack late. They ran time over the 1050m with the runner-up Talkin’ Italian a comfortable winner in his next race start.
