Murray Bridge Tips 12/06/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 5 No. 4 SAVILLE – ($5.60)

Greg Lesnikowski & Ryan Hannemann can land again with their last start winner SAVILLE. Found Shirshov too sharp around the smaller Parks track over 1000 metres before bumping into that horse again. This time Saville lobbed out the back early over 1100 metres on the outer track. Jeff Maund cut the corner with Saville to build into the race along the inside fence. They weren’t beaten far that day from Shirshov then backed that up with another handy effort behind Celsius Star. Rochelle Milnes won on Saville at Balaklava with his latest effort, and we have seen both Big Shaq and Tupoleu come out of that race to score again since.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 5 ALPINE FUN – ($17.20)

Local trainer Steven Schrader has picked up the former Macdonald and Gluyas trained mare ALPINE FUN. Not sure what the go is there, however we’ve always felt that Alpine Fun is a racehorse with city winning ability. We’ll take on trust as Schrader sends Alpine Fun resuming over 1000 metres at Murray Bridge Racecourse on Monday. She steps out without a public trial or jumpout that we can find. Not an overly big mare, so may not take a lot of work and will improve on whatever she does. Alpine Fun is the type to be getting back early with 1200 metres probably being her ideal distance. She loves the sting out of the ground and Callan Murray will be bringing Alpine Fun with one run up the middle to hopefully claim them late.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 8 No. 7 SALUTE THE STARS – ($21.50)

Strathalbyn trainer Emma Hubbard upped the ante with SALUTE THE STARS, trying her hand in town. Salute The Stars ran a cheeky race under Kayla Crowther in the Benchmark over 1950 metres on the Parks track. He kept coming to the line to just miss the placings before having nothing go right for him in the Listed 2500 metre Port Adelaide Cup. Salute The Stars wasn’t beaten too far to Campobasso and Hostess Susie at Gawler last start. Anna Jordjso gets the nod here from Hubbard in a race with little pace or pressure. There’s a few perhaps suspect at the trip and they won’t want to be going hard. Salute The Stars has won both of his races at Murray Bridge and can outstay this lot with a positive ride from Jordjso.
