Murray Bridge Tips 15/05/2024
BEST BET 🏆
Race 6 No. 2 Costless ($4.20)
COSTLESS set a fast tempo over 1250m on the Parks track in a BM76 rated race. The winner Sweetened peeled off his back to challenge into the straight with Costless making her earn it. They ran time with Costless running second while holding his BM61 rating. Kristi Evans brings him back to Provincial level where he’ll be better suited after finishing behind Delightful Shecky in the Series final at Morphettville ten days ago.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7 No. 1 FOX GEM ($3.40)
The big win was one out of the box for FOX GEM who has struggled to see the line first despite racing well. The horse came back to settle towards the rear of a big field with the pressure being poured on out in front. Todd Pannell managed to extract the horse off the fence and get hauling with the big weight soon after straightening. Fox Gem kept rolling up the straight of Gifford Hill to win with an ever-widening margin. The rise to 62.5kg will be the only query as Fox Gem meets similar again on Wednesday. Trainer John Macmillan has opted to keep Pannell aboard in lieu of searching for a claiming apprentice on a track that doesn’t hinder those higher in the weight scale.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3 No. 13 TAKING OMAHA ($16)
Very good on debut when showed pace to sit on the speed out of the chute over 1050m at Balaklava. He was a little green and did things wrong including taking the turn awkwardly into the straight. Did seem to dip and duck a bit up the straight there at Balaklava where the surface can be a bit tricky. Andrew Gluyas had a throw at the stumps for some black type in the Group Three Breeders Stakes which didn’t work out for the horse. Stable is showing great confidence in keeping 3kg claiming apprentice Alan Lai on the 2yo who lines up against the older horses at Gifford Hill. Drawn to find some cover in a race with good speed and Taking Omaha does look like a natural Gifford Hill type of horse.
