BEST BET 🏆
Race 4: No.3 TAKE THE KITTY ($3.20 with Picklebet)
Another from the Matt Dunn stable is TAKE THE KITTY who is second-up here and looks set for back-to-back wins today. Last start, the Star Witness gelding resumed off an eight-month absence but showing no signs of fatigue, gave them a galloping lesson when she broke through for her maiden win, here over 1100m. She drew the outside gate (8) and travelled three-wide without cover and still got the job done. Ben Looker was aboard that day and remains in the saddle for this assignment. She has no luck with the barrier Gods again, drawing the outside gate he as well, but with good early speed in the race, she should manage to cross and settle near mid-field with cover this time. With a little luck today, she can make it two-straight here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3: No.6 DAEDALUS ($4.20 with bet365)
Matt Dunn shows the way in this season’s (local) premiership with 21 winners to date (15 clear of his nearest rival), as he saddles-up DAEDALUS here who is overdue for a change of luck as he seeks his first win for this campaign. Last start, the Rothesay gelding made it three-straight podium finishes when he beat all but one home in a BM58 Hcp, here over 1550m. With Ben Looker aboard, he settled mid-field early and ran home strongly but was never a chance at catching the tearaway winner (Kermantic) that day. Looker retains the ride for this contest which looks no harder as he does no early work from gate three. A trouble-free run here should see him in the mix when it matters most today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 1: No.4 HOT AND STRONG ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
Local galloper HOT AND STRONG has found her mojo this time in and rock-hard fit after four runs, looks right in the mix today. Last start, the Reward For Effort mare clicked into top gear when she easily accounted for a Class 1 Hcp over 1000m at Ballina. Transferring from the Nick Ryan stables at Flemington in October last year, she sees this track (under race conditions) for the first time. Jai Williams steered her to that Ballina win last start and remains aboard today, bringing with him, a 2kg claim. At her peak today, she looks a genuine winning chance here.
