BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.8 ENSIGN PARKER
Larry Fairhall saddles-up ENSIGN PARKER here who is four starts into this preparation and at his peak today, looks well placed for back-to-back victories. Last start, the Merchant Navy gelding brought up his second career-win when he clobbered a Class 1 field on Newcastle’s Beaumont track over 1200m. Mikayla Weir was legged aboard for her first ride on the gelding that day and rode him a treat. Parked right behind the leader on settling, Weir eased him off the fence on the turn, and that was all she wrote. He cruised to the lead and quickly put three lengths on them, passing the post 3.5 lengths clear, eased over the final 100m. Wie sticks with him today (who can blame her), and although stepping up in grade, a repeat of that last-start effort should see him saluting again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.5 IRON HAT
Its (currently) $5 the field here, labelling it an open affair as we run with the locally-trained IRON HAT to get the job done today. Two starts back, the Salade gelding landed a huge first-up win when he put five lengths on a BM66 field, here over 1000m with Ella Drew aboard. Then last start, he stepped-up to BM64 company and had Dylan Gibbons in the saddle and missed by a whisker when finishing second over 1100m at Wyong. He ticks all the important boxes today and third-up here, he will strip even fitter. Already a two-time winner at the track and distance, Ella Drew returns to steer the ship again today and with a trouble-free run, the four-year-old looks set for another win today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.3 BRAVEN
The Angela Davies-trained BRAVEN has come back in great touch and even fitter for three runs back, looks up to this contest at odds today. Last start, the Heroic Valour gelding came off his maiden win (on this track) when he finished out of the money in a Class 1 contest over 1350m at Wyong. Andrew Gibbons has been aboard for five of the four-year-old’s six starts to date and runs the show again today. He is one for one on this track while Gibbons boasts a 27% success rate with the stable. At his peak here, he looks a serous contender in this line-up.
