Muswellbrook Preview & Best Bets – 23/10/2023
Muswellbrook Tips for Monday, October 23
Our form expert provides Muswellbrook tips for today’s horse racing at Muswellbrook Racecourse and gives his best bets.
BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.4 DYLAN’S LAD ($2.30 with bet365)
Annabel Neasham saddles-up DYLAN’S LAD here who is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks set to bring up win number two today. Last start, we tipped the Shalaa gelding as our Best Bet and sent out a white-hot $1.60 favourite, came across one better on the day, having to settle for second prize in the Class 1 Hcp over 1290m at Orange. Heavelon Van Der Hoven has been aboard for his last two runs and keeps the job for today’s assignment. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle just off the speed and with a trouble-free run, he can make amends for last start and cross that line in first place today.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.2 MR WALLACE ($7.60 with BoomBet)
The Cody Morgan-trained MR WALLACE resumes here off a lengthy 23 weeks in the paddock but boasting a strong fresh record, he looks a serious player in this contest at odds today. Last start, the Medaglia D’oro gelding came off his maiden win on his home track at Tamworth when he finished last in a Class 1 at Scone, pulling up lame after the race. Since returning to work, he has trialled twice, finishing second in his most recent hit-out. He maps to settle in the first half-dozen from gate two today and already a winner when first-up, he can give this a real shake today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.8 LAGO’S DAUGHTER ($10 with BoomBet)
Cessnock galloper, LAGO’S DAUGHTER, is in good touch of late and down in grade today can figure here at good odds. Last start, the Lag Delight mare came off an unplaced effort in a Class 2 Highway Hcp at Rosehill when she returned to country class and had immediate success, taking out a Class 2 Hcp at Armidale over 1400m. She missed the jump and settled last of the 12 runners but finished like a train to arrive in time and take home the major prize as a $21 chance that day. She should find this contest even easier as Mikala Weir takes the reins for the sixth time. With a trouble-free run here, she has the runs on the board to suggest she is overs in this line-up and an each-way ticket here wouldn’t go astray.
