BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.5 FLYING DEEL ($3.80 with bet365)
The Paul Perry-trained FLYING DEEL has found the podium in all three career-starts to date and looks primed for another top-three finish today. Last start, the Dundeel filly came off two-straight minor money finishes when she clearly showed she had learnt what it was all about as she clobbered her rivals in a Class 1 Maiden, here over the longer 1750m journey. With Jess Taylor remaining aboard, she took a sit behind the pace and inside the final 200m, took control and went on to put 3.5 lengths on the 10-strong field. This looks no harder as she tackles the same track and trip. Taylor remains glued to the saddle today and with a trouble-free run, the filly looks the testing material again.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 6: No.2 JUST IN REACH ($4.60 with bet365)
Sue Grills saddles-up the handy JUST IN REACH who is in great touch this time in and ticks the important boxes here that suggest he is a genuine winning chance in this contest. Last start, the Outreach gelding came off a good win at Tamworth when he took on city class company and as a $41 chance, turned plenty of heads as he crossed the line in third place in a BM78 Hcp over 1100m at Rosehill. Returning to the country scene today, Ash Morgan is the pilot again (after steering the six-year-old to three wins from his four previous rides. Just one start here previously saw him win his Maiden (after rearing at the start). Already two wins over the 1000m trip, this looks right up his alley and from gate five, he can take this one out.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 5: No.4 REGATTA ($5.50 with Ladbrokes)
Scone galloper, REGATTA, has a strong record here and looks well placed again to give them something to beat today. Last start, the Real Steel gelding was having just his third race start where he made every post a winner by taking out the 1280m Maiden Plate on this track. He travelled three-wide without cover most of the way and finished best in the end. He backs that effort up here, this time in Class 1 company and steps-up to the 1450m trip as well. Drawn ideally in gate three here, Ash Morgan has his second ride on the galloper today and if he can settle quickly with cover, he will strip even fitter from those three runs and should prove a tough nut to crack.
