Naracoorte Tips 22/10/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 1 No. 12 REBEL MISTRESS – ($3.80)

The opening race on the card at Naracoorte Racecourse on Sunday is set to become a two horse race between Jacob’s Gate and Rebel Mistress. We’ll side with the later going on her second-up run at Gawler when the pair finished alongside each other over 1500 metres. The mare was slow out under 4 kg claiming stable apprentice Alan Lai. Rebel Mistress made ground up into the straight to finish alongside Jacob’s Gate who had the sweet run from midfield the fence. The winner Superior Sam has since recorded a dominant win in Saturday grade at Morphettville.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5 No. 5 WHISKEY HANGOVER – ($3.85)

Former Price Bloodstock horse WHISKEY HANGOVER ran a bog race from the back for his new connections at Morphettville Parks Racecourse. Price had sold Whiskey Hangover as they so often do shortly after winning at Seymour. Kayla Crowther then allowed her mount to come back from their wide gate in the small field on the Parks. The pair raced towards the rear on the fence as Fancify led at a crawl before kicking clear into the straight. Whiskey Hangover found clear running as the race was all over to coast home into third. This is a good race day at Naracoorte with plenty of horses all searching for a way into the $100k series finals. Todd Pannell can give him the run of the race from the gate for Whiskey Hangover to secure his position in the Country Mile Series Final.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 6 TAN TAT BEAU – ($7)

Aaron Bain & Ned Taylor were forced to search for a second option to resume TAN TAT BEAU after the gelding was originally set down for a 1000 metre dash at the ill-fated Mindarie-Halidon meeting. He followed his good trial performance with a smooth run from back in the field where he finished into the placings behind Big Option over 1250m. If he was caught a Jumpout or so short due to the distance change, it did not show. They didn’t break any records early before coming home in a fast last 600m in a low-rating BM70 field. We’ll expect the pressure to be on at Naracoorte and watch for Nichola Yuen to sweep over the top of them late on Tan Tat Beau.
