Naracoorte Tips 30/04/2023

BEST BET 🏆

Race 4 No. 2 TURF DECISION – ($4.20)

Bordertown trainer Jeff Searle sets TURF DECISION for a first-up tilt at Naracoorte. His enigmatic galloper appears to have too much on them and returns with a controlled trial at Murray Bridge. Dom Tourneur kept his mount under wraps as he had Turf Decision come back from the wide gate. The pair made ground back towards the fence in what we believe will be a good form trial going forward. Turf Decision has a habit of blundering at the start before sending punters on a thrill ride as he powers on home. Won first-up over 1200 metres at Mount Gambier last prep before repeating the dose in Bordertown. Turf Decision showed genuine city ability as he downed subsequent metro winner Versetto at Murray Bridge before the break.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 6 No. 1 THANASI – ($9.60)

Distance specialist THANASI enjoys competing at Naracoorte Racecourse and brings good form into this. Settled at the hindquarter of the inform Ladies Man over this trip two starts back in Mount Gambier. The two horses went toe to toe from a long way out with the post looming as Thanasi got his nose in front. That pair left a fair margin back to the others which was only cut down inside the last 100m as they tired. Missed the kick over 1300m at latest with Jacob Opperman taking the short cut along the fence at Penola. It was not the place to be on the Heavy 8 track, and he’s far better suited here back on top of the ground.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 5 No. 8 OUR FORTUNA – ($14)

Rochelle Milnes got the job done again for Murray Bridge trainer Garret Lynch. This time it was at Clare and on the debutante OUR FORTUNA in an 1800 metre maiden. Our Fortuna impressed with the way he relaxed on debut, even when challenged by the race fav Rebel Mistress a long way from home. Rochelle rode her own race with her mount relaxing accordingly. The pair shrugged the favourite off at a time of their own choosing before coming clear into the straight. The form form Clare continues to stand up, and Lynch has placed his horse beautifully here at Naracoorte.
