BEST BET 🏆
Race 7: No.5 DIVINE VICKY ($4.20 with Ladbrokes)
The Warwick Farm galloper, DIVINE VICKY, has missed just one podium finish in her six career-starts and three starts into this preparation, she should be fighting fit to give this contest a real shake today. Last start, the So You Think mare was third-up when she beat all but one home in a BM72 Hcp against city-class gallopers over 1100m on the Kensington track at Randwick. She sat one out, one back and finished off strongly, but just couldn’t match it with the winner in the end. She drops in grade today and returns to the Provincial scene with Ash Morgan returning for the ride (after steering her to victory three starts back). Nicely drawn in gate five today, she maps to settle in the first half-dozen and with a trouble-free run, she looks hard to hold out here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 3: No.1 FLIC EN FLAC ($5.75 with Picklebet)
Having her first look at the Newcastle track today, the Maher & Eustace-trained FLIC EN FLAC is second-up today and did enough at Goulburn to suggest she is more than capable of taking out this contest. Last start, the four-year-old was fresh off a lengthy 22-week absence when she put in a solid effort to take home third prize in a Class 3 contest over 1300m. Trying to lead all the way, she led them to the 100m mark where her condition gave out, but stuck on well for the minor money, beaten less than a length on the line. Fitter for that run and already a winner when second-up, the galloping grey mare could prove hard to run down today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 1: No.6 LADY SUPERSPY ($10 with Palmerbet)
The Tracey Bartley-trained LADY SUPERSPY is third-up today and up in trip today, looks a genuine contender for the major prize. Last start, the Exosphere mare did well to finish third in a BM66 Hcp over 1500m at Muswellbrook when second-up after five months off the scene. Mitchell Bell was aboard that day and remains in the saddle here for his sixth ride on the mare. She placed at the track and distance last preparation and fitter for two runs back now, she looks a solid each-way chance in this contest.
