Race 3:  No.7  TOES IN THE WATER  ($3.30 with Neds)

Nick Olive saddles-up TOES IN THE WATER here who is three starts into her racing career and looks well placed for back-to-back victories today. Last start, the Maurice filly continued to improve and was most impressive in breaking through for her maiden win in a 1400m contest at Canberra. The three-year-old box-seated to the turn, then soon after took over and left them behind as she crossed the line two lengths clear in the end. Apprentice, Coriah Keatings, has been in the saddle from the outset and has the reins again for this contest. She gets the gun-run from gate one today and maps to be box-seating again. This looks no harder and with a trouble-free run here, she looks the goods for another victory today.

Race 2:  No.3  FLIC EN FLAC  ($4 with Ladbrokes)

The Maher & Eustace-trained FLIC EN FLAC is third-up today and should find this contest a lot easier. Last start, the American-sired mare finished last (of four) in a BM68 over the mile at Warwick Farm. She led on settling but couldn’t match it with the city runners, fading badly in the run home. Considering the big drop in class today, we will take the mare on trust as she strips fitter for those first two runs back. From gate two, she probably leads again and has a new rider with Gavin Ryan on board. She is one-from-one on a soft track so conditions are ideal for her today. This contest looks right up her alley.

Race 7:  No.6  BALTIC COAST  ($5.50 with Picklebet)

This year’s Cup is marred with a third of the field scratched before race-day as we run with the Kris Lees-trained BALTIC COAST who is three starts into this campaign and looks ready to pounce. Last start, the New Approach gelding showed great courage when finishing third in a BM78 Hcp over 1400m at Kembla Grange. With Dylan Gibbons aboard, he fought all the way home and was beaten just a length on the line. Two of his three career-wins have come on wet tracks so the Soft 7 conditions today look ideal. The six-year-old won fourth-up over a mile last preparation so it could be a case of déjà vu today. Gibbons remains in the saddle for today’s assignment and seeing the Nowra track for the first time, he looks well placed for a track debut victory.
