BEST BET 🏆

Race 7 No. 1 LORD MORTON ($4.80)

Goolwa trainer David Jolly holds a strong hand in the get-out at Oakbank Racecourse on Friday. Interesting to note these he’s chosen not to claim on the favourite Miss Mucinni as she resumes here. Instead, he has taken the three kilo claim for stable apprentice Caitlyn Munro on the top weighted LORD MORTON. The major danger who stands between Jolly and victory of course, is the last start track and distance winner Lotza Bubbles. Lord Morton found himself a long way back in the run before making ground the fence while Lotza Bubbles skipped clear off her uncontested lead to win. She comes in fresh off a let-up while Lord Morton has won over this track and trip since. He meets her better at the weights under Munro in a race with plenty of pressure in front.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 2 No. 1 ALMARHOE ($8.50)

Pace map should favour natural front-runner ALMARHOE in the second at Oakbank Racecourse on Friday. Sophie Logan has ridden the horse for his past couple, and she is coming in hot off a riding double on Strathalbyn Cup Day. Almarhoe gave plenty of cheek when driving to the lead after jumping awkwardly over 1350 metres in a good maiden at Port Lincoln. That was enough to convince the Hickmott and Riggs training combination to leave him in the care of Mick White. Almarhoe then jumped beautifully under Logan as she got her first feel for the horse. The pair settled handy to the speed over a sharp 1210 metre maiden before holding their own into the straight. White stepped his horse out to 1750 metres at his next start where Logan gave them the slip on turning. Almarhoe was only run down late to finish third in a form race that can hold for this.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6 No. 13 DAVEEDO ($27)

We’ll go on the run of DAVEEDO who ran them along to give plenty of cheek at his only start on this track. That was three starts ago over this tricky 1400 metre distance which he contests again on Friday. Chelsey Reynolds sent Daveedo straight to the front from barrier 13 where the pair led them a merry dance from the top of the hill. Reynolds stuck low to the fence as most of the field fanned towards the middle part of the track. Daveedo eventually succumbed to the late momentum of the much in form Final Chance. Daveedo still managed to hold second placing from the well-backed Shemakesastatement. Daveedo ran sharp time that day and a repeat could see him in the finish again this week.
