Bunbury Tips 10/03/2024
BEST BET 🏆
Race 1 No. 6 WONDER WEAPON – ($3.10)
Consistent galloper WONDER WEAPON gets his chance to break through for a win at Bunbury Racecourse on Saturday. Resumed with a fast-finishing third behind Deamber over 1200 metres at Ascot where he seemed to hit a flat-spot shortly after straightening. Luke Campbell then set off after them on a wide run from the back with Wonder Weapon game in defeat over 1413 metres in a Saturday metro race at Pinjarra. The market warmed to him after Wonder Weapon opened with an each-way quote over 1500 metres at Ascot last start. That was possibly one that got away for connections with Wonder Weapon being forced to duck and dive for runs. Fully wound-up now while gaining the services of Chris Parnham in the saddle.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 2 No. 5 GIFT OF THE HEART – ($3.90)
Lucy Fiore gave GIFT OF THE HEART the run of the race with the horse resuming over 1400 metres at Ascot Racecourse. They did run along at a good tempo before running a fast last 600 metres. Fiore moved to attack for the lead on straightening before having to deal with Count The Sessions who loomed alongside by the furlong. Those two horses moved right away from the rest with Count The Sessions proving too strong with his race fitness. We were on Gift Of The Heart as a #WABlackbookers horse when pushing forward to lead all the way over 1400 metres under Madi Derrick last start. Paid well and we’ll stick as Clint Johnston-Porter comes on as the horse gets out to a trip for the first time.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8 No. 8 AZTEC RULER – ($10)
Top line-up for the main event at Bunbury Racecourse on Saturday. Punters seemed to be favouring the boom filly Live To Tell and the smart mare Wild Belle to the exclusion of all else in early betting. Things could turn out ugly for the mare off an inside gate while the filly still has to step-up and do it against the older horses. Thought AZTEC RULER might be the blowout horse as Michael Poy looks for a trail into the race before letting down with one run at them. Trial was fair, and he may be better suited over further. Still think there’s a lot of upside to Aztec Ruler who rushed his way through the ratings last prep. Gets in with the same weight as the filly and is likely to find clear air in running.
