BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.3  IKNOWASTAR  ($2.30 with bet365)

The Bjorn Baker-trained I KNOW A STAR has found his mojo this tome in and looks set to go on with it today. Last start, the Star Witness gelding was third-up when he clobbered his rivals in a 1400m Maiden at Mudgee. With Brad Rawiller in the saddle, he box-seated most of the way before Rawiller hooked him off heels as the gap came and he went on to win with a leg in the air, putting 2.5 lengths on them, eased over the line. He is super-fit for this challenge today and with Rawiller sticking with him, from gate two he will take a ton of beating here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1:  No.8  SO EXTRA  ($6 with Palmerbet)

The Clint Lundholm-trained SO EXTRA is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks set for that trend to continue today. Last start, the recorded his fifth podium finish in six starts this time in when he comfortably took care of a BM50 Hcp over 900m at Coonabarabran. Leading from the outset, he gave them all something to chase and in the run home was untroubled, crossing the line almost two lengths ahead of them. Jake Pracey-Holmes steered him to that victory and has the job again today. Ideally drawn in gate three here, he should have little trouble in leading again and should take catching.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2:  No.6  HALF HINCH  ($35 with Ladbrokes)

One for the value hunters here is the Andrew Molloy-trained HALF HINCH who is second-up and looks better than half a chance at victory today. Formerly with the Cody Morgan stable, the Hinchinbrook mare had her first for Andrew Molloy at Wagga two weeks back where she ran last of eight in a BM58 Hcp over 1000m. Allowance should be made for her as that was her first race-start in more than 18 months. Go on her second-up record where she has a win and runner-up finish from two previous second-up appearances. Also consider, her only start at the trip ended with a win in Class 1 company at Coonamble two starts back. Ken Dunbar has the reins today and at the odds, she is still worth an each-way investment in this contest.
