Pakenham Tips 3/7/2022

BEST BET 🏆 (WIN)

Race 8 No. 4  MADAM MAYHEM- ($5.50)

This might be the one for MADAM MAYHEM to break through. The 16-start Maiden has been solid at her last two, which have come at the track and trip. She looked to be in contention two starts ago when chopped out at the 250m mark before running 6th. At her most recent start, the Matthew Ellerton-trained galloper loomed up and looked the winner, only to go down late behind Tradeworx. She went 3.2 lengths slower than standard benchmark in that race, which is the best last start figure of any runner and the second best that any horse in this race has produced. She draws well in barrier 5 and should be strong late in the piece.

NEXT BEST 🥈 (WIN)

Race 6 No 2  DICK WHITTINGTON ($5.75)

This looks to be a suitable assignment for DICK WHITTINGTON. The Philip Stokes-trained galloper has had two runs this time in and stuck on in ok fashion in a Benchmark 70 at Sandown over the 1800m on June 14, finishing 6th of 14 runners behind Rockford. He went 1.8 lengths faster than standard benchmark, which is the best last start benchmark figure of any runner. The six-year-old was a 13 length improver on figures when third up last time and was excellent in some city races when out to the 2000m in harder complaint than this.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 1 No. 7 RICH LOVER – ($6.50)

RICH LOVER might be worth something in the opener. A few unknowns with some debutants in action but the Pat Carey-trained galloper has the benefit of a couple of runs under his belt, including one over the 1000m on the Pakenham Syntethic on June 20. On that occasion, the son of Rich Enuff was posted three-wide the trip before hitting the lead early on in the straight and being run down in the shadows by Suppose I Do. That should top him off nicely for this and he looks primed to run a big race.
