Race 4 No. 6 AMANI- ($3)

AMANI can improve off a debut effort that saw her finish 4th over the 1200m at Pakenham on April 20. The Pat Carey-trained galloper settled back in that race and was held up as they cornered until the 200m before working home solidly to land a length off Kusini. Three winners have since come out of that race and the 1400m looks like it will suit. Beau Mertens rides and just needs to negotiate the wide barrier.

Race 6 No 5 MERE FANCY- ($3.60)

MERE FANCY gets her chance in Race 6. The John McArdle mare has a bit of talent and resumed with an eye-catching runner-up performance at Sandown on April 19 when runner-up behind Gunna Gunna over the 1300m. She settled back in that race before reeling off the fastest late splits. The daughter of Toronado should be suited by what looks to be a genuine tempo on paper and the slight step up in trip is a bonus, while she has attracted support in the early betting.
