BEST BET 🏆

Race 7:  No.5  TORETTO

Goulburn trainer, Matt Dale saddles-up TORETTO here and after three lead-up races, looks a prime candidate to take the Cup home today. Improving with each start this preparation, the Press Statement gelding showed plenty of fight when he beat all but one home in a 1400m Open Hcp at Canberra. Settling worse than mid-field, he ran home stoutly with Nick Heywood aboard to claim second prize that day. Heywood has a strong relationship with the six-year-old, steering him to victory twice previously and claiming the runner-up cheque on three other occasions. He gets the gun-run from gate one and steps up to his ‘pet’ distance where he is yet to miss a podium finish from four previous runs over the mile. His Parkes debut today is looking everything positive for victory here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.12  DEEP SHIMMER

Goulburn galloper, DEEP SHIMMER is third-up today and with a new rider in place, looks every chance of making her track debut a winning one. Last start, the Deep Field mare was second-up where and was trapped wide without cover most of the way, finishing mid-field in a BM58 over 1200m at Moruya. The stable has removed the visors today and Mathew Cahill is legged aboard for his first ride on the mare. Fitter for those two runs back and placed twice in two previous third-up appearances, she warrants serious thought as a prime contender in this contest.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 2:  No.8  AMPLE TIME

The Matt Smith-trained AMPLE TIME has been knocking on the door lately and if she can score a trouble-free run here, she looks every chance of breaking through today. Last start, the More Than Ready mare sat second-last on the fence and in the run home, was just held up, climbing all over them, until she saw daylight inside the final 100m and finished fast enough to grab third prize on the line. She gets all the favours here drawing gate one and has Heavelon Van Der Hoven as the new pilot. Fitter for two runs back and drawn to perfection, she looks great value here and well worth an each-way ticket.
