Race 3:  No.3  UNDER THE CAP

The Stuart Kendrick-trained UNDER THE CAP has been in great touch this time in and looks on track to bounce back here today. Shooting for the hat-trick, last start, the Under The Louvre gelding found the city class company a little too slick, finishing unplaced in a Class 5 Hcp over 1500m at Eagle Farm. He returns to the Provincials today and has James Orman aboard who has tasted success with the four-year-old previously. Fourth-up and at his peak today, he looks to play a major role in this contest.

Race 6:  No.5  NIGHTSTICK

Another from the Stuart Kendrick stable is NIGHTSTICK who is in career-best form of late and looks a serious contender in this contest. Last start, the Toronado gelding came off a hat-trick of podium finishes when he finished fourth in a Class 3 Hcp, here on the all-weather track. He drops back in class today and carries 2kgs less than last start as well. Angela Jones steers the ship for the first time and draws nicely in gate four. A trouble-free run today puts him right in the mix for victory.

Race 2:  No.2  OUTWITTED 

We are shooting for some value here and the Kurt Goldman-trained OUTWITTED just might deliver in this contest. Last start, the Sidestep gelding improved leaps and bounds from his first-up failure when he beat all but one home in a BM65 over 1200m at Beaudesert. He is a recent arrival at the stable, formerly with James Cummings. Fitter for his two runs to date for the new stable, he has placed in all three heavy track appearances so conditions today look ideal for him. The experienced Angela Jones steers the ship for the first time and with a trouble-free run here, he looks a real threat to the odds-on favourite (Slippin’ Jimmy) today.
