BEST BET 🏆
Race 4 No. 3 ROYAL TYKE – ($10)
Gawler trainer Brett Campbell has ROYAL TYKE well placed to score a win at Port Lincoln Racecourse on Wednesday. The horse jumped cleanly to lead and set a fast tempo with his first look around Lincoln. Royal Tyke gave a kick on straightening to look all over a winner before weakening out of the placings behind Irish Mist. Royal Tyke improved with his next start here when taken on in front by the speedy Maddison Miss. He shook his challenger off soon after straightening only to be denied victory by Sea Witness who had the drop on them. Drawn race on the pace once more for Britney Wong and can be in it for a long way.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7 No. 4 JOURNEY IN TIME – ($7.50)
Sairyn Fawke was made to earn his pay on JOURNEY IN TIME who was slow to get into stride at his first start in Port Lincoln. The mare was racing against a handy field despite the lower Benchmark rating of the race. Fawke got stuck into his mount, who responded by driving back towards the inside of horses. The pair went on to win that race quite comfortably over 1250m before stepping up another 100m second-up. Journey In Time did get a little keen on the bridle as she landed in a forward spot. She clearly had enough inside the furlong and will appreciate dropping back in grade while also getting back to the the 1250m on Wednesday.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 8 No. 12 POUVOIR DE SOIE – ($10)
Balaklava trainer David Halliday has produced POUVOIR DE SOIE to run some encouraging races of late. The big striding mare found herself handy to a slow speed while trapped deep over 1350m at her first run on this track. She was okay in being beaten less than two lengths to Flittell who held a class edge over his rivals. Pouvoir De Soie stayed to trip while finding herself up in grade last start. Seemed to travel better than the winner into the run. That winner being Dantela had jumped better than usual off an inside draw to be given a peach of a ride behind the speed by Kayla Crowther. Teagan Voorham just had to hold up at various stages aboard Pouvoir De Soie as she tried to follow the back of Dantela. Found the line soundly for second despite racing in restricted room and has fared better at the barrier draw as she attempts to turn the tables.
