Nowra race by race
Race 1: Country Motor Company Country Boosted Mdn Plate, 1:35PM, 1100m
Cool As Ted has placed in both of his runs in the past three months and was 2nd last time. He also placed at his only Nowra start, draws barrier 2, and gets Brodie Loy, who has ridden five winners from thirteen rides at this track. He is $1.65 with Bet Right, short for a maiden, but this is a weak race and he has the most solid profile in it.
Jenni Moo Moo is the danger. She has placed in four of her last five, including a 3rd last start, and Damon Budler rides for Natalie Jarvis, a stable with two wins from six runners here. She is $3.00 with Bet Right. Cool As Ted to win, and he’s the multi starter.
Race 2: South Coast Butchers Pantry Plate (C1), 2:10PM, 2200m
Powerful Prayer and Liyah’s Girl are separated by less than a dollar in the betting, and they get there different ways. Powerful Prayer, $2.25 with Bet Right, has placed in three of his last five without winning one. Liyah’s Girl, $3.10 with Bet Right, actually won one of hers, then ran 2nd twice before a 5th last time.
Liyah’s Girl gets the vote. She is the only one of the pair to have won lately, and she has Pierre Boudvillain, who places in half of all Nowra rides, for a Matthew Smith stable that has three wins and ten placings from nineteen runners here. Powerful Prayer still has K S Latham, so the exacta both ways covers it. Liyah’s Girl to win.
Race 3: Greenwell Point Bowling Club Country Boosted (Bm58), 2:45PM, 1400m
Melodia Perfecta has run five times in the past three months and placed in all five. Three of her last four runs were 2nds, including last start. On 56.5kg, five kilos less than topweight Kendalia, she is $8.50 with Bet Right, which looks generous for a mare who never runs a bad race.
The win is the question. She has been finding one too good, and Amy McLucas has three placings from thirteen Nowra rides without a win. Kendalia ($3.70 with Unibet) has the inside draw and the Matthew Dale stable, which has won four times here, but 61.5kg is a lot for a horse that has also been placing rather than winning. Johntialjo ($3.90 with Unibet) ran 3rd first-up and gets Brodie Loy, and he is the main danger. Melodia Perfecta each-way.
Race 4: Crookhaven Rokk Oysters Mdn Plate, 3:20PM, 1400m
Bjorn Baker doesn’t send many to Nowra, but three of the stable’s seven runners here have won, and Invasion looks ready to add to that. His four starts have gone 8th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, all of them in the past three months. Jean Van Overmeire has ridden five winners from fifteen rides at the track.
The danger is Eternal Torment, an unraced four-year-old from C Maher, whose stable has placed nine of ten Nowra runners. Brodie Loy rides. A debutant with that combination demands respect. Invasion to win, with Eternal Torment the saver.
Race 5: Antax Steel Mdn Hcp, 3:55PM, 1200m
Nicolosi was 2nd last start, placed at her only Nowra run, and comes from the G Waterhouse & A Bott stable with MS W Costin aboard. She carries 57.5kg from barrier 8.
Machrihanish has placed in three of four recent starts for Richard & Will Freedman and is the obvious danger on 56kg. Diamond Dice has run 3rd in each of her last three and gives K S Latham something to work with. No market yet. Nicolosi to win.
Race 6: Brundee Blooms Greenwell Point Cup (Bm66), 4:35PM, 1100m
Can Abstruse carry 62kg and still win the Cup? Everything else about her says yes.
She has had five runs in the past three months for two wins and four placings, and the last of those was a 2nd. She has run twice at Nowra, winning once and placing both times. Brodie Loy rides, and Natalie Jarvis has two wins and four placings from six runners here. The weight is real, three kilos more than anything else in the race and seven more than the bottom weights, but over 1100m on a Good track, class tends to carry it.
Jazz All Knight is the danger. She won last start, has a win and three placings from four recent runs, and comes in on 57kg for B Joseph & P & M Jones, a stable with three wins from eleven runners here. If Abstruse is caught wide from barrier 10, Jazz All Knight is the one to profit.
Vereeva is the each-way horse. She has placed in all four of her Nowra starts, carries 55kg, and draws barrier 2 for MS J Taylor. Hey Jude won her only start here for Bjorn Baker but finished 9th last time. Note that Apiarist is entered here and in Race 7.

Rebel Terra has three starts for a 3rd, a win and a 2nd, and won at the only Nowra start. MS W Costin rides for Pat Murphy, who has two wins and four placings from seven runners here, and 56.5kg is a manageable weight.
Apiarist won his last start for C Maher and would be a serious threat if he takes this race rather than the Cup. Macaroon has placed in all three of her recent runs for Bjorn Baker and is a solid exotics horse. Rebel Terra to win.
