Race 2 No. 6 MYOCEAN WARRIOR – ($3.80)
The Shayne Cahill trained MYOCEAN WARRIOR had teased with ability with his debut run back in May this year. He settled just off the pace in a good maiden at Gawler before pulling to the outside and just missing a place. Cahill travelled Myocean Warrior to Port Lincoln to open his prep over 1000 metres this time in. He found his feet well back in the field under Kayla Crowther before getting home strongly out wide for second. That maiden won by Maddison Miss was the fastest run 1000 metre race of the day in which the leader just kept on running. Fitter now and Myocean Warrior should appreciate the extra furlong from a good draw.

Race 7 No. 4 I NEED A DRINK – ($5.60)
The hometown team of John Dunn & Krystal Bishop prepared I NEED A DRINK to score in a big win at the first meeting of the season here. I Need A Drink had trialled well at Strathalbyn in preparation for the new season. Rochelle Milnes found herself trapped wide without cover in a slowly run race before bringing her horse into it on the turn. I Need A Drink set out after The Ladies Man who was chasing a hat trick of wins. I Need A Drink gathered him in well before the line in a fast last 600 metres to come away from them on the line. Finds a kind draw for Milnes in a race of similar strength at best.

Race 6 No. 4 ARTFUL AMBITION – ($7.50)
Another local training duo scored a win at the season’s open when Callan Murray guided ARTFUL AMBITION home for Julie Branford & Hayley Dorward. The horse jumped sharply before coming back to near midfield in an evenly run race. The leader gave them the slip on turning with Murray bringing Artful Ambition as the widest runner into the straight. Artful Ambition used the length of the Port Lincoln Racecourse straight to pick up Rock Hard for a comfortable win. Finds a strong race on Sunday with plenty of pace and pressure up front and can get over them with even luck in running.
