ANCHOR BET ⚓

Race 7:  No.3  QUALITY TIME  ($1.50 with Neds)

The Chris Waller-trained QUALITY TIME is in great shape this time in as the former European galloper shoots for the hat-trick today. Last start, the four-year-old clobbered his competition in a BM88 Hcp over the Rosehill 1900m trip. He ran his last 600m, 6.1 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last start effort in this line-up by 4 lengths. He comes here today in search of the Cup and has a bit of quality about him as Tommy Berry makes the trip north to retain the ride. This is a far easier assignment today and the bagmen have not missed him in the markets. Lock him in as your ‘anchor’ for any multi’s you have planned for the day.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 3:  No.2  PARADISE ISLAND  ($4.40 with Unibet)

The Kris Lees-trained PARADISE ISLAND is second-up today and looks well placed to give this a real shake. Last start, the Holler mare was fresh off a 12-week spell when she beat all but one home in a Class 2 Hcp over 1007m at Taree. She ran her last 600m, 1.2 lengths quicker than benchmark, the best last-start effort here. Drawn in gate seven, she maps to settle mid-field and has apprentice Shayleigh Ingelse aboard today who claims a 3kg allowance here. She has had little racing of late, seeing the track just twice in the past three months but she is in an astute stable and carrying 4kgs less today, she can serve it up to this field.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 6:  No.4  KEDAH  ($4.40 with bet365)

Kris Lees saddles-up KEDAH here who is third-up and should be ready to shine today. Last start, the Per Incanto mare was far from disgraced when she gave her all to finish just three lengths from the winner in the Group 3 Tibbie Stakes (1400m) at Newcastle. This contest looks a bit easier today as Jason Collett is legged aboard for the first time. She has drawn well in gate four and maps to settle near mid-field with cover. With just a little luck on straightening, if she finds daylight, she will be running on at the finish. Already a two-time winner when third-up, She is right in the mix here.
