Race 3:  No.2  BRITISH STATESMAN  ($3.40 with Neds)

Bathurst-based galloper BRITISH STATESMAN sees the track for the first time today and third-up here, looks a prime candidate for the major prize here. Last start, the Churchill gelding took on a Class 2 Hwy Hcp at Randwick and wasn’t disgraced in finishing fifth (of 16) that day. He drew the car park in gate 15 and was never on the track but still managed to beat more than half the field home in the 1100m sprint. Dropping back to country class racing today, the four-year-old should find this assignment much easier and a winner when third-up last preparation, he looks set to repeat that effort here.

Race 1:  No.8  UP TO ME  ($4.80 with Bet Right)

Canberra galloper UP TO ME has been knocking on the door at his past few starts and sporting a major gear change today, looks primed for a big effort here. Last start, the Shamus Award gelding shared top-weight and just missed a podium finish when he took home fourth prize from a 1650m Maiden Plate at Moruya with Billy Owen back on board that day. Much better drawn here in gate three, he also drops 2.5kgs for the contest and has Owen sticking with him. Trainer, Garry Kirkup, puts the blinkers on the five-year-old for the first time and making his Queanbeyan debut today, he looks a serious chance on picking up his first win here.

Race 5:  No.4  PINK PANTHER  ($6.50 with Ladbrokes)

The locally-trained PINK PANTHER is three starts into this campaign and fitter for those three runs, is capable of taking out this contest. Last start, the Real Impact gelding struggled badly in the heavy conditions when he finished second-last in a BM58 over 1300m at Goulburn. Back home and on top of the ground today, Jake Pracey-Holmes has his second ride on the five-year-old who is unbeaten in three starts on his home track and will be at his peak today. Ideally drawn in gate four, he maps to be parked right behind the speed on settling and should take a ton of beating from there.
