Race 1: No.2 BURGUNDY GIRL ($3.40 with Picklebet)
The Keith Dryden-trained BURGUNDY GIRL is second-up today and fitter for that first-up effort looks better suited here. Last start, the Irish-sired mare came from near last to finish mid-field in a BM58 over an unsuitable 1200m at Moruya. She drew wide (9 of 12) and was still last at the 400m mark, she was held up again inside the last 100m and should have finished closer that day. She still managed to finish in front of a few. Billy Owen has the reins today and ideally drawn in gate three here, a clear run to the line should see her much more competitive over the extra distance in this contest.

Race 2: No.5 FAIRNESS IS BEST ($4.80 with Ladbrokes)
Goulburn galloper FAIRNESS IS BEST sees the track for the first time and fitter for a first-up win, looks a great chance of going back-to-back here. Last start, the Press Statement gelding was fresh off a 16-week spell when he stormed home to grab victory and record his first career win in a 1300m Maiden on his home track. Second-last on the turn, as they straightened-up, the seas parted and Louise Day took the incentive and drove the five-year-old through the gap to nail the leader right on the post. Day sticks with him here where the extra trip should suit his racing style. Ideally drawn in gate two today, he looks the one to beat again.

Race 6: No.6 MOOSHAKA ($6.50 with Bet Right)
Locally-trained by Nick Olive, MOOSHAKA resumes off a four-month break today and boasting a strong fresh record, looks in the mix here at odds. Last start, the Pride Of Dubai mare ended her last campaign finishing mid-field in a BM58 over 1000m at Wagga. Coming from back in the field, she carried 60kgs that day and managed to pass a few on the home, beaten just two lengths on the line. Her four previous first-up appearances ended with three minor placings so she can perform on fresh legs. She is yet to win at the track but three previous appearances were all podium finishes. Billy Owen has steered the ship seven times in the past and has the job again today. She gets the gun-run from gate one here and from that draw, looks a serious player in this field.
