BEST BET 🏆

Race 3:  No.1  CRAVING MAGIC  ($3.65 with BoomBet)

The Canberra-based CRAVING MAGIC is second-up today and having his fourth race-start, looks well placed to go one better in this contest. Last start, the Rubick gelding led but was harassed by one inside him all the way who eventually got the better of the battle, leaving him to settle for second prize in a 1000m Maiden Plate at the Sapphire Coast. Damon Budler was aboard that day and has the job again for this assignment. Ideally drawn in gate three, he maps to settle near the speed and fitter for that one run back, looks a solid winning chance here.

NEXT BEST 🥈

Race 5:  No.3  RHUMBADU  ($4.80 with Ladbrokes)

The Rob Potter-trained RHUMBADU is third-up today and is well placed here to remain unbeaten on the Queanbeyan track. Last start, the Duporth mare was second-up and ridden hard early to find the lead (one off the fence). Beaten on the turn, she still showed plenty of heart and home strongly, just weakening over the final 50m to finish sixth in the 1000m Class 1 Hcp at the Sapphire Coast. She is well weighted here (after the 3kg claim) and may take a back-seat today from gate seven. Fitter for two runs back, she returns to the track where she won her maiden and should find this contest a little easier as she drops in grade.

BEST VALUE 💰

Race 4:  No.6  FACE THE DAY  ($6 with Palmerbet)

The Luke Clarke-trained FACE THE DAY is in top-shelf form this preparation and looks set to go on with it today. Last start, the Zoffany gelding ran out a strong 1600m at Wagga but had to be happy with second prize with the winner (Keith) crossing the line seven lengths ahead of the field that day. Today, he steps-up to the 2000m trip where he has three minor placings from five runs at the distance on his resume. Kayla Nisbet was aboard last start and is the pilot again today. He maps to settle mid-field from gate five and after four starts back, should be rock-hard fit and ready to produce his best in this contest.
