BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.2 ZOUATICA ($2.05 with Neds)
The Barbera Joseph stable saddle-up ZOUATICA here who is second-up and likely to take some beating today. Last start, the Zoustar gelding was fresh off a 15-week spell when he beat all but one home in a Class 2 over 1400m at Wagga. Today, he drops back in grade and has Jett Stanley on board for the first time. This youngster has plenty of upside (also winning a recent trial at Canberra by nine lengths) and he should find this contest a bit easier. Fitter for that first-up run, he looks the testing material here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 4: No.4 ACCRUE ($4.20 with Palmerbet)
Local galloper ACCRUE is three starts into this preparation and looks every chance of going back-to-back today. Last start, the Xtravagant gelding turned his form around when he took out a Class 2 Hcp, here over 1200m. Billy Owen was aboard for the first time that day and after sitting outside the leader early, he took control passing the 600m mark and went on to cross the line more than two lengths clear. He drops in grade here and has Owen sticking with him. He is a real track specialist, boasting eight starts here for three wins and five minor placings and while drawn wide today, he maps to cross and settle near mid-field with cover. A clear run to the line should see him fight out the finish today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 7: No.9 DODGEBALL ($13 with bet365)
Another from the Barbera Joseph stable is DODGEBALL who lines-up here a sneaky chance at odds today. Last start, the Vadamos gelding finished strongly to grab third prize in a Sapphire Coast Maiden over 1600m. It was his 16th start and his fifth podium finish but he still remains a maiden. He returns to the 2000m trip today and with a Heavy 9 forecast here, he looks better suited after being placed twice from four previous starts on the surface. Jett Stanley is aboard for the first time today and the four-year-old may enjoy the change of scenery as he sees the Queanbeyan track for the first time as well. He is (currently) $13 in the market and looks well worth an each-way ticket today.
