The Team Hawkes-trained STROMBOLI is in top-shelf form this time in and looks set to continue the good work in this contest. Last start, the Exceed And Excel gelding came off a first-up win when he finished a close-up third in a BM78 over 1200m, here on the main course. Trapped three-deep without cover to the turn, he did well to grab the bronze medal in a four-horse fight to the finish that day. Never on the track, he was beaten less than half a length on the line. Already a winner when third-up and unbeaten on the Kensington track, he is ideally drawn in gate three and looks the best of the day.

Race 4: No.3 AVEBURY ($3.20 with Ladbrokes)
John O’Shea saddles-up stablemates here where we are running with AVEBURY to get the job done today. Last start, the Savabeel mare was second-up and showed a ton of improvement when she beat all but one home in a BM78 over 1300m at Warwick Farm. She chased the winner home all the way, even protested (unsuccessfully), beaten a neck on the line and finished three lengths ahead of the third placegetter. J Mac has his first ride on the four-year-old today and from gate three, looks ideally placed to give this contest a real shake.

Race 3: No.5 GREECE ($6.50 with Palmerbet)
The Maher & Eustace-trained GREECE is second-up today and sporting a major gear change, looks in the mix for victory here. Last start, the I Am Invincible mare was fresh off a six-month absence and making her Sydney debut when she did well to take home third prize in a BM72 over 1200m at Canterbury. Fitter for that run back and wearing blinkers for the first time today, she is also reunited with James McDonald (J Mac) who takes the reins for the second time with her and with a trouble-free run here, she can figure in this contest.
