The Chris Waller-trained KAPAKIRI lines-up here boasting a hat-trick of wins and looks poised to add another picket to the fence in this contest. Last start, the Kermadec gelding made his Randwick (main track) debut and did it in style as he brought his third-straight win this time in. Tommy Berry rode him a treat and doing his best work late, went on to win the BM78 Hcp by almost two lengths on the line. It’s déjà vu across the board here as he meets similar company, on the same track, over the same trip and has Berry sticking with him. He has 2.5kgs extra to carry but in winning form, it shouldn’t play a major role is his chances here. He looks the one to beat again.

Race 1:  No.7  MAGIC PHAROAH  ($6 with Ladbrokes)

Scone-based galloper, MAGIC PHAROAH is riding high this time in and looks poised for back-to-back victories here. Last start, the American Pharoah mare claimed her first city win when she took out a Class 3 contest, here over the mile trip. Well ridden by Tom Sherry that day, he had the four-year-old settled near mid-field (on the fence), eight lengths off the pace, but on straightening, ne saved a ton of ground and had enough in reserve to mow down the leader and grab victory near the line. She meets similar company here on the same track and at her peak after five runs this preparation, she should be storming home again with Sherry in the saddle.

Race 3:  No.8  HELLOVA NATURE  ($6.50 with Neds)

The Nathan Doyle-trained HELLOVA NATURE is second-up here and has claims to suggest he can give this contest a real shake. Last start, the Hellbent colt resumed off a 22-week absence when he proved too good for them in a BM64 Hcp over 1000m at Kembla Grange. Yet to miss a podium finish in three race-starts, the three-year-old comes up with gate one here and maps to settle just behind the speed. The new pilot is Jason Collett and already a winner when second-up, he looks a play a serious role in the outcome here.
