BEST BET 🏆
Race 2: No.2 PLUNDERING ($3.05 with BoomBet)
The Annabel Neasham-trained PLUNDERING is second-up today and looks well placed here to bring up win number three today. Last start, the Shooting To Win gelding was fresh off a lengthy seven-month absence when he finished third in a BM72 Hcp, here over 1000m. He did it tough that day, trapped wide all the way and still beaten less than half a length on the line. Chad Schofield was aboard for the first time and sticks with him here. He does no early work from gate three and already a winner when second-up, he looks a serious contender in this contest.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 7: No.8 STROMBUS ($4.60 with Bet Right)
The John O’Shea-trained STROMBUS is in good touch this preparation and ticks enough boxes here to stake a serious claim for the major prize today. Last start, the Irish-bred gelding was three starts back from a 22-week break when he took out a BM72 Hcp, here over 1400m. He settled mid-field that day and simply finished too strong for them, winning by more than a length on the line. Ideally drawn again today, he jumps from gate three and maps to settle mid-field with plenty of cover. Nash Rawiller has his first ride on the four-year-old today and facing similar company here, should prove hard to hold out.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 3: No.5 PHEARSON ($7.50 with Ladbrokes)
Brad Widdup saddles-up PHEARSON here who boasts seven podium finishes from eight career starts and looks poised to add another notch to that stats sheet today. Last start the consistent Exosphere gelding came off a first-up win in the Hawkesbury Heat of the Provincial Midway C’ships and then lined-up in the Final where the saddle slipped, destroying all winning chances that day. With Tim Clark aboard, his race was run passing the 1000m mark, seeing him drift back through the field to finish near last. Putting that run aside, he is already a winner when third-up and a two-time winner over the trip. Brett Prebble takes the reins for the first time today and from gate three maps to settle just behind the speed. Scratched from the last race to run here, he looks a genuine player in this and is currently great each-way value today.
