Race 9:  No.2  ZOUGOTCHA  

Drawn to perfection here, the Chris Waller-trained ZOUGOTCHA is unbeaten this time in and coming off two black-type wins, looks the testing material again. Last start, the Zoustar mare came off a win in the Group 2 Millie Fox Stakes (1300m) when she franked that effort by stepping-up to the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and once in front, held them all at bay to take home the winner’s cheque there as well. James McDonald sticks with the mare here after steering the four-year-old to six of her seven career wins to date. To put icing on the cake, she gets the gun-run from gate one here and is already a winner when third-up. Another win looks on the cards again.

Race 2:  No.5  RAZORS

The James Cummings-trained RAZORS is third-up here and looks ready to win. Last start, the Sidestep gelding made it consecutive podium finishes when he took home third prize in a BM88 over 1400m at Rosehill. Tim Calrk had him settled perfectly one off the fence behind the leader and on straightening and in the run home, gave it his all, finishing just over a length behind the classy Gringotts. Fitter after two runs back, he welcomes new pilot Jamie Kah aboard and although drawn wide, he has the early gate speed to be sitting near mid-field on settling. Yet to miss a top-three finish over the 1400m trip, he can give this contest a real shake.

Race 10:  No.3  WEE NESSY

Third-up and ready to win, the Price & Kent-trained WEE NESSY has been on the podium at her past two starts and now looks set to grab the winner’s cheque in the contest. Last start, the well-bred Snitzel mare came off heels on the turn and home strongly to finish third in the Group 3 Birthday Card Stakes (1300m) at double-figure odds. It’s been 18 months since Jamie Kah has been aboard, and that day she steered the mare to a win at Mornington carrying 60.5kgs. She has placed twice in both starts here and is ideally drawn in gate three. Already a winner when third-up and placed five times in previous black-type races, she strips fitter here and looks a genuine winning chance in this event at generous each-way odds.
