BEST BET 🏆
Race 3: No.5 BONAUGURA ($4.60 with BoomBet)
The Jared Wehlow-trained BONAUGURA is three starts into this campaign and now looks ready to win. Last start, the Better Than Ready gelding wasn’t far away when finishing third in a BM 0-55 over 1600m. That was his fourth podium finish in eight starts at the track. Adrian Layt is legged aboard for his second ride on the three-year-old today who meets similar company here and drops 2.5kgs for the contest. He gets the gun-run from gate one where he maps to be parked right behind the speed (most likely box-seating). Rock-hard fit with those three runs under his belt, he looks the one they have to beat here.
NEXT BEST 🥈
Race 5: No.1 HARD REYVA ($2.95 with BoomBet)
Stuart Kendrick makes the seven-hour drive north from the Sunshine Coast today and saddles-up HARD REYVA here who faces easier opposition and looks the one to beat. Last start, the All Too Hard gelding found the city class company and the 1350m trip just a little too rich in the day as he finished unplaced, four lengths behind the winner that day. With 59kgs on his back, he was thereabouts to the 200m mark, but had nothing left in the end. After 16 race starts to date, he faces his first test at country level today and after the claim, carries less weight as well. He maps to settle mid-field from gate six and drops back in trip which should also suit. With a trouble-free run here and a clear run to the line, he looks a serious player for the major prize today.
BEST VALUE 💰
Race 4: No.5 MOST IMPRESSIVE ($5.10 with BoomBet)
The Glenda Bell-trained MOST IMPRESSIVE has been just that this time in and looks well placed here to register her fifth-straight top-three finish today. Last start, the Exceed And Excel mare brought up her first win for this preparation when she led from barrier to box in a Class 3 Plate, here over 1400m. Jason Taylor was aboard for the first time that day and sticks with the mare for this assignment. This looks no harder as she jumps from gate two and will most likely take up the front-running again. Now a track and distance winner, she looks every chance for back-to-back wins here.
